Essex County Soccer League

The Essex County Soccer Association, League and soccer community mourn the loss of Tim Filipic

Tim served with integrity, dedication and passion the Windsor Essex soccer community for many years as vice-president of the Essex County Soccer Association and League Administrator for the Essex County Soccer League. Whether attending countless meetings, answering endless emails and telephone calls or being present at numerous soccer events he always represented what is best in humanity and the beautiful game we all love.

Tim was also involved in soccer as a coach and referee for numerous years. His compassion, knowledge of the game and willingness to help others will always be remembered. His natural ability to teach was always evident in all his endeavours.

Most importantly, Tim was a loving and devoted husband to Melissa and proud father to his two sons, Mikey (Ashley) and Joey (Victoria). He imparted his love of the game to his two sons who will continue his legacy of excellence.

We all benefited from Tim's contributions, seen and unseen, to soccer in Windsor-Essex.

May his memory be a blessing and may we all take a moment to appreciate his life.

Visitation and obituary are published in the Windsor Star and Windsor Chapel websites.

Tim passed away yesterday (November 11, 2024) morning after a battle with uveal cancer (cancer of the eye) for 8 years. He received treatment for a time and was cancer free for several years. Unfortunately the cancer returned and spread further until he finally succumbed to the disease. It was part of his wishes that this matter be kept private; it was always his belief that he would get better until he did not.
